Estate Home, Talbot County
This is the front of the Residence. All of the cedar siding has been removed,
to be replaced with new siding. The tenting process has begun, since this
restoration will be ongoing through the winter months.
 |

|
This is the side of the home; scaffolding has now been erected and monoflex
plastic has been used to seal the environment on the exterior of the house.
Restoration will be in 2 stages, therefore only half of the house has been
wrapped for the first stage.

A full view of the front of the house with monoflex plastic now completed for
stage one of the restoration. Heat is now being generated within the tent to
maintain optimum conditions for removal of old paint and reapplication of new
coatings.
Canterbury Estate
"This letter serves as my wholehearted recommendation for anyone
considering the services of Island Painting Company. We have recently
completed an extensive restoration project on the Canterbury Estate in
Talbot County, MD on which Island Painting Co. worked for over one year
on a straight time and materials basis.
The scope of work that Island Painting completed for us required the full
range of painting and related skills. This included using highly toxic
substances (Peel-Away) to remove 100% of all paint on exterior of the house.
After removing all paint and at the owner's request,
they then palm sanded all the exterior surfaces almost to a "furniture finish"
to prepare it for 2 primer coats and 3 finish coats. And this was all done
straight through the winter where the house needed to be fully scaffolded,
"tented" with plastic, and heated. The exterior painting work also included
fencing around the property and several outbuildings including an old, very
large horse barn.
Island Painting also painted the entire inside of the estate where there were
many challenges due to the high number of subcontractors working on different
parts of the restoration. Considering the various obstacles, environment control
factors, and changes the owner frequently made as work progressed, the paint
crews were very flexible and cooperative throughout the project.
From an administrative standpoint, among all of our subcontractors on the job,
Island Painting had the most organized and thorough billing practices on the
site. With daily time sheets and original copies of materials receipts presented
to us every two weeks, there was no confusion in justifying the money that was
paid for labor and materials. In general, the foremen, the crews and the company
as a whole were clean cut, well qualified, professional and hard working. Again,
I would recommend them highly for any scope of painting or restoration work that
needs to be done.
In my opinion, you can count on Island Painting Company to do excellent work
in a professional manner, even on the toughest of projects."
